President's Letter
The current membership year is winding down and it has been
extremely successful under the direction of past president Marge
Hayden, a dedicated Board of Directors and committee chairmen.
There are two standing events remaining on the summer schedule.
The Mini Golf tournament on July 21st, chaired by 1st Vice
President Neil Young and the spectacular 2nd annual Pig Roast on
Aug. 13th chaired by the effervescent Linda Magrath. Please
refer to this newsletter or our club web page to sign up or gain
specific event information.
Important to note that the bulk ticket sales will begin in
September under the direction of chairman Jim Michlewski.
Remember, this is a short window of opportunity, prices and
forms will be available on our web site as they become available
to us from the Ct. Ski Council. Also the membership year starts
September 1st, a current 2011/2012 membership card will be
required to take part in the bulk ticket program.
The Board of Directors are looking for a number of members to
chair programs for the next season. The most important at this
time the ski bus chairman and possible two assistants to balance
the consecutive meeting requirements. Antony Santavasi is
asking for members to assist him with the annual Dinner/50th
Anniversary planning for next spring.
You can look forward to the Open House chaired By 1st Vice
President Neil Young on October 27th; and MeatHeads film fest
chaired by Ken Conrad on Dec 1st. Trips thus far include Sunday
River, Maine Jan. 2012; Stowe, Vt. Feb. 2012 and the addition of
a week long trip to beautiful Steamboat, Co., also in Feb. 2012.
We are expecting the awareness day listing from the council
sometime in September. When published they will be posted on our
web site with the ski bus schedule.
Your Directors are ahead of schedule programing the seasons
events, there is still a lot of work to do and we could use some
help creating new activities and events for our record breaking
number of members (653) and counting.
Hope everyone enjoys a super summer!
President Russ Hayden
