President's Letter
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! The holidays have come and
gone, bringing happiness and good cheer. Now maybe we
can all relax a little and reflect upon the past year
and plan to make 2011 better.
The Meriden Ski Club will be celebrating it's 49th
birthday this year and we have come a long way since
its inception in 1962. The advances in equipment
technology, clothing and the advent of helmets has
made skiing much safer. The changes in teaching
techniques have enabled more people, young and not so
young, to enjoy the sport more quickly and safely.
Behind all of this good news, is the fact that a
countless number of members have volunteered their
time and talents over the years to bring us the level
of activities and service we enjoy today.
Very soon, March, in fact, the Meriden Ski Club will
be setting the budget and conducting election of
officers and directors to lead the club into our 50th
year. One year terms make it very easy for members to
contribute and make the club better. The more members
that serve in leadership positions (even on a rotating
basis) makes the club stronger. Please give serious
thought to offering your expertise at election time.
I have really enjoyed my eight years as secretary and
the last two years as your president. I have
witnessed many changes for the better in this time,
and the Meriden Ski Club is much stronger due to the
time and effort of the officers and directors who have
served.

As with most leadership positions, there comes a time
to step down so the organization can continue to
progress with new leadership and ideas to move
forward. In this respect, I will not be a candidate
for re-election this year and thank my fellow
officers, directors, committee chairmen and the
general membership for all the help they have given me
these past 10 years.
THANK YOU!
~
Marge Hayden, President

March. Please submit your ideas to Marie Bock and see what
characters come out to play in the snow!!
