Dear Member,
Yikes! The holidays are around the
corner and everyone has Christmas trees on the roofs of their
cars. Soon they will put skis on the roof and head north for some
snow!!! Time to squeeze in some shopping and some stressing!!
Please do remember, in all of the caos, to have a Happy Holiday
and a Happy New Year!!

President's Letter
The Meriden Ski Club has done very
well this past year. We have volunteer officers, director's and
committee chairmen and women, who dedicate their time and skill
to make the MSC one of the best ski clubs in the state. We are
now entering our 50th year of continuous service to skier's and
boarders in our region. The support of our members is extremely
important for us to be successful, and have members coming back
year after year. Our social activities and ski trips continue to
be very popular. Now we wait for the winter snow. Resorts to the
North are opening daily, and with temperatures dipping into the
20's at night, snow making has begun in earnest. Soon skiing and
boarding season will be in full swing.
We have finally come to the
close of another calendar year, with Christmas just weeks away
and the holiday season upon us. As the new year approaches
with all of it's promise, it might be time to reflect back
upon the road we have just traveled. All of the good times and
even the not so good times, especially those experienced by
our men and women in uniform, serving at distant posts around
the world. We should all pause, and give them thanks for their
service and sacrifice in preserving our freedom and safety in
America.
On behalf of all of our
officers, director's and chairmen and women, I would like to
wish everyone a
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Robert Smith has been at the Regency House of
Wallingford for the last two months and would really appreciate a
call or visit. Robert had been active with the club for many
years and ran the bus trips at one time. If you would like to

--Marge Hayden is selling the Mt Southington vouchers
and is awaiting pricing from the mountain, so stay tuned for
member's pricing and availability. See Marge at any regular
meeting to purchase ticket vouchers. And hang on to any ticket
vouchers left over from last year, they are good for this year's
season.
--Don Simmonds is organizing the Free Lesson
program and the club has 2 new ASIA participants who will assist
him with lessons, Amanda Burris and David Guzzo. There will be
more information available as the ski season approaches, but if
you need to learn to ski, or just want to advance your skills,
Don is the guy to see!

they will be published in our next newsletter!! Content and
space permitting.

Ski Club is on Facebook!! Join now to
share your experiences and pictures with other club
members. We will be updating Facebook with club activities,
so look there for all the latest info. And it's linked to
our website for quick access to club info. This is a great

 News
from the 50th Anniversary Committee
The Meriden Ski
Club will be celebrating its 50th year of great skiing and
camaraderie. The club is planning a special dinner dance
in April along with ideas of commemorative skiwear and trinkets.
If you have any ideas and would like to participate on the
planning committee, please contact Anthony Santovasi at
skisantovasi@comcast.net. We want to make this a great
celebration, so bring your ideas and let's make it golden!!!
The 50th
Anniversary Committee will be ordering more club apparel, so see
Anthony Santovasi to place your order!!
Save the
Date!! The MSC is celebrating 50 years at the annual
dinner dance to be held at the Hawthorne Inn on April 28, 2012.
So mark your calendars and watch for announcements. Be there, or
be square!!
Calling all
members of days past!!! We are asking members to dig
into the boxes in their attics or basement and pull out that photo
album for pictures of the MSC activities that you participated
in. We will publish any memories or stories future newsletters.
We are also trying to put together a photo album and scrap book
retelling the history of the Meriden Ski Club.

MSC
Racing 
The
MSC Annual Race will be held on Feb 5th at Okemo
Mtn. Come and race, and have fun while honing your turning
skills!! There will be a bus going that day and it is a Council
Awareness Day. Sign up for the bus as usual through Kris Mierny.
There is no additional charge for racing, members pay bus and lift
ticket fees only. This is a Nastar course so everyone will
need to get their Nastar numbers ready for registration. Go to
www.nastar.com
to register for a Nastar number. See Sharon Mann after the
holidays to sign up and for more details.
Monday Night
Racing
The racing season is
coming up soon and the MSC is looking for adult racers of all ages
and abilities!! Tentative start date for Monday Night Racing is
12/19/2011 and cost is $30.00 per week, which includes lift ticket
and racing. You must be a member of the MSC to race for our club
and will need to present your membership card at sign up. Sign up
for each race is in the Ready Room starting at 5:30pm, and racing
begins at 7:30 pm. Contact Mt Southington at 860-621-8851 after
2:00 pm for conditions and cancellations.

Council
Awareness Days
The CSC has
arranged discount skiing at NE resorts, available for all
MSC members in good standing and with a valid CSC sticker
membership card. The entire list of discount days are listed in
our website and all of our buses run on discount days. Check
out the list of dates and be sure to read each mountain's
instructions on purchasing tickets (each is different!!). You
must have a valid 2010-2011 CSC sticker on you MSC membership
card to purchase tickets. Violators to any rules are subject
loss of membership privledges.
