President's
Letter
Summer is
over! But we still have some warm days ahead and
Indian Summer to look forward to. Your Board of
Directors have been busy over the past three months
planning Fall and Winter events and scheduling the
Saturday and Sunday bus trips.
Members who have paid their dues will be receiving
their membership cards with the CSC sticker affixed
on the reverse side. September 1st begins a new
membership year and dues are now payable. You can
print membership applications from the web site,
fill them out legibly and mail your check to the
post office box along with a stamped return address
envelope.
Dominic Baraiolo has done the audit of the MSC books
and as usual he found no discrepancies with David's
accounting procedures. MSC is very solvent. Great
job David!
The first venue on the calendar is the Open House on
October 28th under the excellent organizational
skills of 1st Vice President Bob Fowler. Linda
Magrath will also be running the Tea Cup auction. It
should be a fun night.
Please be sure to check out our web site. Don
Comstock has awareness days, bulk ticket dates and
prices plus the Saturday/Sunday bus trips and
locations posted for your planning convenience.
I would like to extend "Thanks" to Alice and Dan for
graciously having the MSC Beach Picnic at their home
in Old Saybrook. The day was just perfect with
weather and food. It was a relaxing day. Thanks
also to Linda and Doug Magrath for organizing the
MSC Pig Roast. Compliments to the "chefs" and
members who provided appetizers and desserts for
both events. I'm sure that all who attended enjoyed
the laid back atmosphere.
I welcome you all back from a great summer and look
forward to another successful ski season flavored
with exciting events and trips.
~ MARGE
HAYDEN, PRESIDENT

Announcements and Other News:
The regular meetings
for the MSC 2010 - 2011 ski season will begin on
Sept 9, 2010 and run every Thursday night (except
holidays) after that. The meetings start at 7:30
pm, but come on down early to sign up for trips
and to meet old and new friends. The AOH bar will
be open to all attendees with discounted prices.
Member night socials will be scheduled throughout
the season, so be sure to attend those fun
meetings (no formal meetings on Member's Nights).
It's never too
early to think about skiing....The CSC
has announced that next year's On Snow Carnival
will be held at Mt Snow again. The following
trips are in the works, Sunday River, Stowe,
Innsbruck, but the MSC is looking for volunteers
and ideas for more ski trips or activities in
the coming season.
The 2010 - 2011 One Day Bus
Trips have been scheduled!! Click
here to see the schedule
and the rules of the road.
Sharon Mann
and Connie D'Antonio have stepped up to chair the
Club Races and the races at the On Snow
Carnival. Watch for future announcements about
these activities and to sign up and race. We hope this will
be a fun year for racing, so see either Sharon or Connie if
interested in racing.
The MSC is looking for a chairperson
to head our Race Team for CSC Monday Night Racing
at Mt Southington. Races start in December and run for 8
weeks every Monday night. If you are interested in helping
out this program, please see any board member. You don't
have to be a fast racer to chair this program but getting
out and pushing your edges around the gates is sure to
improve your skiing!
MSC Ambassador Robin Guzzo
is working with the CSC and MSC to host a fun-filled
evening at the annual Snowball being
held in November. Watch in the October newsletter for
details and to purchase tickets. She is also putting
together the MSC Members Nights to be
scheduled soon!!

Meriden
Ski Club Food Share Program
Marge
Hayden has organized the second annual Meriden Ski Club
Food Share Program. Members are asked to bring non
perishable food items to the weekly meetings beginning
Sept. 9th thru November 18th, 2010.
Needed items include: cereals, pasta, canned goods,
peanut butter, tuna fish, spaghetti sauces, canned
fruits, crackers, tea, instant coffee, rice, cookies.
Please no glass items.
These items will be delivered to the food bank prior to
the Thanksgiving holiday. Last year, several hundred
dollars worth of food was donated by members to make the
initial program a big success.
Meriden Ski Club members have been very generous in
their donations, as a group or individually, to various
charity fund raisers over the years and we can help many
less fortunate families have food on their tables.
Thank you in advance for your contributions to this
program.
