President's
Letter
Hello Members!!
The annual Dinner Dance cumulated the end of the ski
season for the Meriden Ski Club. Anthony, as usual did
a fantastic job in planning this event. The
Hawthorne Inn did a wonderful job and the food was up to
their standards. Congratulations to all the winners who
took home trophies and prizes!
As a new fiscal year begins, I would like to "thank"
all the Board members, chairpersons and volunteers who
gave their time and energies so unselfishly for the
betterment of the Meriden Ski Club.
We are beginning a new season nowm and there are some
new and old venues for the summer months. Remember to
check out the web site and check this newsletter
for information on these activities. All members who are
interested in partaking of these club functions must
contact the chairperson and submit their payment to that
person or the MSC PO Box, marking the envelope with the
name of the function.
I am pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has
appointed Robin Guzzo as Meriden Ski Club Ambassador for
the 2010-2011 ski season. Robin is enthusiastic
regarding her duties as our Ambassador and likes to
entertain, which will be a plus for member nights. Robin
and her husband, David, live in Wallingford and have
been members for about a year. I know our members will
welcome them among our ranks.
Our first summer activity is the Rock Cats ball game on
June 25th with Maggie Bender (Manchester), followed with
Sandy Davis' fishing trip on the 26th aboard the
Blackhawk out of Niantic. In July we will have Go
Karting in Wallingford, with Sandy Meyerhofer on the
13th. The Beach Picnic will be held at Alice Gradwell
and Dan's home in Old Saybrook on July 17th.
Are you ready for a Pig Roast? Linda and Doug Magrath
will be hosting our Annual Picnic and Pig Roast under
the pavillion at the Meriden PBA, rain or shine on Aug
14th. We will need a definite count by August 2nd, so
please see details below for signing up.
We are also in the planning stages of winter trips (No
it's not too early!!). So keep them in mind and start
planning your winter activities: Sunday River with
Anthony over MLK weekend, Stowe's annual trip with Ken
Conrad, and a week long trip to Innsbruck, Austria in
March with Bob Curry. All trips are in the planning
stages so watch for more info in the upcoming months.
The Meriden Ski Club is again sponsoring a green and a
tee for the 4th annual Mt. Southington Golf Tournament
to benefit the CT Children's Medical Center Adaptive Ski
Program. If you are interested in playing golf for this
wonderful charity you can e-mail
mykeysee@aol.com
or call 203-430-1280.
Remember to please respond for any or all of the events
you plan on attending. I am looking forward to seeing
many of our regular members and lots of new members at
one or more of these events planned for the summer.
They will be fun. Have a great summer!
Regards, Marge Hayden, President
