President's
Letter
The holidays are over and 2010 has arrived. The recent
storms enabled northern resorts to open and the frigid
cold was great for snow making. Lets hope we have lots
more snow.
The Holiday Party was well attended, adults and
kids enjoyed a great meal, thanks to Jane Fowler, our
Chef Anthony and the appearance of Santa and Mrs.
Claus. I would like to thank the members for their
generosity in donating non perishable food items,
which were delivered to the Meriden Food Pantry and
was greatly appreciated.
The first long weekend trip is fast approaching,
Martin Luther King weekend. Anthony has reported that
the Sunday River trip is closed, with about 45 members
and families going. This has been a well attended and
successful trip in the past few years. Good work
Anthony!
Sandy Davis' week long trip, Feb. 6 - 13, to Park
City, UT is next on the agenda of trips, followed
closely by Ken Conrad's popular weekend trip to Stowe,
VT on Feb 26 -28. Mark your calendars and see Ken to
sign up, if interested.
The conditions at Mount Southington are excellent due
to snow storms, frigid temperatures and optimal
conditions for making snow. The addition of a new and
faster triple chair lift to the top greatly reduces
the wait time in line on a massive crowded day..
The Monday Night Racing program started on Dec. 28th
with 107 NASTAR Racers. Some very good times were
turned in for the first night of this season. Contact
Sandy Davis to register for the program if you are
interested. It is a fun night!
The Budget meeting is March 11, 2010 and is one of the
most important meetings of the year. This is when the
entire activity program is determined for the coming
fiscal year. It is also the time to fund successful
programs and introduce new activities to reach out to
more members. ANYONE wishing to contribute time and
energy to lead a new program is welcome. If you have
suggestions to improve the MSC social calander, please
present them to any officer or director for serious
consideration and implementation if appropriate.
The Election of Officers is coming up on March 25,
2010. This is an excellent opportunity to step
forward, contribute you time and ideas to improve the
Meriden Ski Club. The experience can be very rewarding
and self satisfying by being a big part of a very
successful ski club.
I am looking forward to the adventures of 2010 and
wish you all a HAPPY and SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR!
~ Marge Hayden
