President's
Letter
As Labor Day approaches and students return to
school, it signals the end of summer. Can ski season be far
behind with the colder temperatures and falling snow just
around the corner?
Your officers and Directors have had a very productive
summer putting the MSC events calendar together for the
coming season. The social season is complete with several
attractive member discounts, from the Spaghetti Supper to
one day bus trips to the northern resorts. The Bulk Ticket
sales will start soon, followed by the very popular Open
House scheduled for October 29th. The Mount Southington ski
swap will be held the weekend of October 24th and 25th with
check-in of equipment on Wednesday October 21st. Good
progress is also being made with the installation of their
new triple chair lift.
To get up-to-date info from the CT Ski Council, you can
subscribe to the CSC Newsletter by logging on to SkiClub.com
and clicking on the Newsletter icon on the Home Page. The
Newsletter will be sent by e-mail.
Our first club meeting for the season will be Thursday
September 10th at 7:30pm at the AOH Hall. Membership dues
are now payable for the 2009/2010 season. Your membership
card with CSC sticker attached is required to take part in
the CSC bulk ticket program. You may fill out your
membership application on our web site, print a copy and
mail it along with your check and a self-addressed stamped
envelope to the club's P.O. Box.
We are looking forward to an exciting membership year filled
with fun events and snow covered mountains. See you at the
meeting!!

RACE TEAM CAPTAIN
The MSC Board of Directors wish to announce that Sandy Davis
has volunteered to captain the MSC Race Team
this year. Sandy will be responsible for the Monday Night
Racing program and the MSC On Snow Carnival racing program.
Please support Sandy and the racing program by participating
in this long tradition of club racing. More info regarding
racing will be included in future newsletters and emails. Thank
you Sandy!!
AMBASSADOR
The MSC is looking for an
Ambassador for this coming season to represent
the MSC at the CT Council Snowball and On Snow weekend.
This position grants many benefits, such as tickets and
hotel accomodations at the Snowball and a free seat on
all Sunday Bus Trips. It does require that the
ambassador run an activity, which is a great way to get
to know other members and get a peak into some of the
club's and council's activities. This could be a great
opportunity for any male or female, young or old, new or
veteran member!! Please contact any member of the board
for more info.
ACTIVITIES
Calling all leaders!! Calling all leaders!!
The MSC is looking for people to help run
acitivities this summer and during the ski season.
We have seen a few new faces with great ideas and
contributions to our club and its activities, but we
would like to see more! Please contact the board if
you are interested in leading or helping with the
following events:
** Member's Nights ** Holiday Party
** Ski Trips ** Your idea inserted
here **
BTW - Leading an activity or event is great for
your resume!!! This is great experience that can be
applied to your job, and a great topic for a job
interview!! Gain experience that can be carried
over to your job! If you can manage crazy ski
lovers in an activity, or organize a function, you
can manage people or projects at work! So get
involved!!
The last newsletter showcased the Black Hawk Fishing
Trip, but what was missing, was the link to the video,
thanks to editing issues with the newsletter. So here
is the promised link, so check it out. The link will
take you to the Black Hawk website. Scroll down to
the bottom video and see Dave Riter and Sandy Davis
show off their fish and plug the Meriden Ski Club.
Discounts and Specials
The Mt Southington Ski Swap
is being held October 24th & 25th. Check it out
for discounts on new and used equipment! And while you're
there, check out their new triple chair to replace the old T
bars.
