President's
Letter
HAPPY FALL! Our very successful Open House, thanks
to the giant effort by Bob Fowler, has come and gone. The
vendors and mountain representatives were very generous
with their donations to the Meriden Ski Club. Many members
were winners of some great prizes. Members were also
generous with items for the Tea Cup Auction in which Linda
Magrath did a great job running.
The next event on our social calendar is
the Spaghetti Supper on Nov. 19th. Tickets are $5.00 per
person and kid 5 and under are free. Music will be
provided by our own John Moisuk and Friends. We would
request that tickets be purchased ahead of time so we
may get a good idea of how many will be attending. You
can also purchase tickets the night of the supper.
The Merden Ski Club has an Ambassador!
Bob Curry has stepped forward to fill this vacancy. I'm
sure that Bob will be a great representative for the
club. Please join Bob at the Snow Ball on Saturday, Nov
21st and watch for future dates for member night
functions that Bob is working on.
A reminder to members who race or are
contemplating to race, that helmets will be required.
Sandy Davis, our new Monday Night Race chairperson
is looking forward to a good season and urges any member
to come and give it a try. It is also a fun night. Russ
Hayden is handling the sale of Mount Southington lift
vouchers, which are $21.00. See Russ at any meeting to
purchase. They are also great Christmas stocking
stuffers.
Another member to step forward again is
Sandy Meyerhofer to chair the Club Race. Sandy has been
in touch with Sunapee Mountain regarding the race and
together they chose Saturday, Jan. 30th as the date of
the race. This is also a bus trip day. Sandy indicated
this will be her last year as chairwoman of this event.
So, I appeal to our members, for the future of the club
race, please step forward to fill this future vacancy.
Sandy will be more than willing to help.
Other events to mark on your
calendars are Meathead Films movie premier of Wild
Stallions on Dec. 3rd. This has become an annual event
thanks to the efforts of Ken Conrad.
And Sandy Davis is now running a week
trip to Park City, Utah, Feb. 6 thru 13. More details
below.
Russ and I wish all our members a safe
and Happy Thanksgiving!
