President's
Letter
Well, Mother Nature has sure fooled
all us skiers. My garden has primrose flowering and
daffodil bulbs poking thru the soil. She has even fooled
the flowers.
Our Meathead Film Festival was a huge success, with great
attendance by members and non members. There were great
give aways. Thanks to Ken Conrad who organized this event
for our members.
Next up is the Christmas Party on Dec 17th at 6:00pm. I
am requesting that all who attend, to please bring a
non-perishable food item. All food collected will be
donated to the Meriden Food Pantry. Don't forget to bring
a $10.00 grab bag for adults and $5.00 for kids. Jane
Fowler has put together a great menu along with Anthony
Santovasi, our in-house caterer. It would be very
helpful, if members who plan on attending email me or Jane
to give us a better idea of the number coming. Santa and
Mrs. Claus will also be there.
It is had to believe the year is just about over and there
is no snow. January starts our week end trips. First up is
Sunday River, chaired by Anthony Santovasi. This trip was
full, well over a month before the event. Ken Conrad's
annual trip to Stowe is next, see Ken to sign up. Sandy
Davis is still taking sign ups for her week trip to Park
City, Utah. Act quickly before it is closed out.
Marie Block has some room on the bus going to Stratton on
Dec 13th; the Okemo bus on Dec. 20th is almost full too,
so check with Marie if you are interested. The cost of
both bus trips is only $10.00 each per member, a great
deal! There is also a bus going to Mount Snow on Jan 3rd
($15 bus) and only 2 meetings left to sign up.
The Spaghetti Supper was a tremendous success thanks to
master chef Brian Petit and his assistants. Peggy
Fellegy and Jennifer Petit also put in a lot of time and
energy, with their fine organizational skills, keeping
everything running smoothly.
It is because of members who step up to the plate,
volunteer, chair events and hold office that makes
Meriden Ski Club the great club it is. We are always
seeking new members to give some of their time. See any
Board member, please, if you can help out.
I would like to wish all our members and their families
a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! And
please make it a safe one! ~ Marge Hayden
