President's Letter

 

Our new membership year started September 1st and the MSC event calendar is just about complete with the Awareness Days, Bulk Ticket information, and the Saturday/Sunday bus trip dates chosen, numbering in the double digits again.    We are still waiting for the CSC stickers for our membership cards, and we are waiting for the financial information regarding the cost of the bus trips and pricing from Mount Southington for the club purchase of the night lift tickets. We may see cost increases for both, but the information will be posted to the web site as it becomes available.

 

The MSC calendar is filling up! The Mount Southington ski swap will be October 18 and 19, followed by the MSC Open House October 30th organized by Vice President Bob Fowler.  We have the Spaghetti Dinner and Holiday party scheduled, and after Thanksgiving, Ken Conrad has set up December 4th for our third annual Meatheads Film Festival. By then we should have snow on the ground, ski's waxed and sharpened for the start of another spectacular winter season.       

 

Get your membership application and dues in early to take part in a great season put together by your dedicated Directors and Event Chairmen. These activities do not just happen, they occur due to the cooperation of everyone in an MSC leadership position for the sole benefit of it's membership. There is always room for improvement and new member involvement. Those inclined to bring their skill and ability to the forefront  for the betterment of the club are encouraged to contact me directly or any of your Officers or Directors. We promise to put you to work post haste.

The Meriden Ski Club, in conjunction with the Connecticut Ski Council, offers the purchase of discounted bulk lift ticket vouchers for the ski resorts listed below. John Moisuk is coordinating the bulk ticket sales, and he will be available at the Sept 18th & Sept 25 Meetings only.  Please contact John with any questions.

The CSC has published the 2008 - 2009 Awareness Days.  For those new to the club these are discounted tickets arranged by the CSC for specific days at specific mountains for CSC member club members only.  To get the discount you must show a CSC sticker that will be on the back of your membership cards at the location listed in the web site for each mountain.  Prices range from $14 to $45 for a single day lift ticket to $143 for a 5 day lift ticket at Stowe.You get the most bang for your buck with this great program! 

 

Remember, MSC will be running Saturday or Sunday buses to many of these mountains!

MSC Ski Trips for 2008 - 2009 Season

Here is a preview of the ski trips that the MSC is running this year.   If you wish to run a trip, please contact any member of the board for the "how to" and  a trip proposal.  We are looking for someone to run a weekend bus trip as this venue may be popular with rising gas prices.
